Milgro scoops a Highly Commended at Irish Quality Food & Drink Award 2016

It was a successful evening in Dublin’s Fair City, as Milgro picked up a a Highly Commended for their Original Flavour Crispy Onions.

Gerald Miller from the company commented, “We are delighted to be recognised by the Q Awards.”  They are widely acknowledged as one of the most prestigious and respected accreditation schemes for food and drink products. It is a great endorsement of our product and very encouraging for the future ahead.

The results of the fourth Irish Quality Food and Drinks Awards were revealed at a ceremony in Dublin’s Mansion House recently. Organised by Metropolis Business Media, group publisher Helen Lyons commented:

‘The Irish Quality Food and Drink Awards have become a major part of the Irish food calendar. Once again we received a huge number of entries, and spent four weeks testing and judging the most delicious products. We had another wonderful night celebrating the success of our winners – huge congratulations to everyone.’

Agnes Bouchier-Hayes from Food@LIT commented of the judging process; Our panel of almost 150 judges, comprising respected food and drink experts, brought the widest pool of knowledge and expertise possible; a long–standing and highly regarded tradition which sets the Quality Food Awards apart. We believe that there is only one way to judge a food or drink product – ask an expert. Each product was carefully evaluated by the judging panel, who debated and discussed its merits across the following criteria: taste, flavour, texture, aroma, ingredients declaration, innovation, packaging, presentation and price point. At the end of the judging, the panel decided on the finalists for each category, and from this shortlist the panel deliberated further over which was the winning product.
